Scary story starters

1) A woman was sitting alone in front of the fire, drinking tea. The clock had just struck midnight. The house was empty. Suddenly, there was an unexpected knock on the door…

2) A man was walking home through a park late one night when he heard a woman cry: “Help! Help! They´re murdering him!”…

3) A family bought an old house in the country which is said to be haunted. On the evening of their very first day in their new home, the children heard groans in the cellar….

4) A man was driving home through the Black Forest when his car broke down. He went in search of a telephone and came across a lonely little cottage with a “Keep out” sign in the garden…

6) She lifted up her head and peered outside through the frosted window. Wrinkled eyes gazed into the bright sky, and a smile came over the old woman’s face when she saw the full moon, shining away in all it’s glory, a perfect background setting for All Hallow’s Eve…

7) I believe things can happen that change your whole life. . .
I first saw her on the old railroad bridge south of town when I was fourteen. Coming back from fishing the muddy river I took the wood planked walkway that paralleled the train tracks on the steel bridge. Suddenly she was standing there…

- Retell one story to a friend.

- Write a summary to one story and post it on Showbie together with the link to the story.

REMEMBER: Collect scary words and phrases from the stories that you read and write them on the posters on the white board.

Here's the link to the scary stories: Scary for Kids

Feedback

This is what we listed when we talked about feedback:

Good
I like the idea
You write very fluently
This sentence is really good ...
Good that you describe ...
The tense looks good ...
You're good at grammar
Pick a part from the story that you think is really good
You write coherently/the text is coherent (att skriva med sammanhang)
I can really see that it's a scary story/you use many scary story words

Think about
Doble check the spelling
Look at the tense. You change between past tense and present tense.
Do you find a grammar mistake? Write the correct form.

If you come up with other things that are good or that your study partner needs to think about, write them instead. Think about "Two stars and a wish" when you give your feedback. That means that you can choose two things that are good about the text and one thing that he/she can improve.

1. Remember to check Unikum and my latest feedback while you are writing your scary story. Also remember to check the words and expressions that we collected while we were reading the scary stories.

2. When you are finished with you story, read it loud to yourself.

3. Publish it on your blog as a first draft and then let your study partner read it and give feedback.

4. When your study partner has given you feedback you process your scary story until you feel satisfied. Then re-publish it on your blog. The headline can be: "My scary story - the final draft", that way I know that you are finished.

5. Watch the tutorials about making a podcast. The link is in another post. Use your headphones.

6. Finished with all this? Watch Obama's victory speech. The link is in another post.
